How does one condense a solution into a memetic performative utterance?
There are ways to send information so that it unpacks itself in the mind. Sticky ideas that change the wiring of the brain. I’m touching on something that stands in stark contrast with Grant Morrison’s hypersigil, a microsigil. A 140 character spell that breaks people out of their apathy and brings about change in the world.
Tools like this are used every day in the form of branding campaigns; mottos, logos, and the 15 second commercial are microsigils, but they precipitate a lie. If these tools are used to market truth, I believe they will be more compelling, and therefore posess more sticking power.
I think Tumblr is already an engine for microsigils. Big concepts condensed into mere bytes. But there is so much signal that it’s all noise. Maybe there are enough microsigils out there, and we just need enough quiet to let them grow.
